The Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development would:
a) Help industry in the development of sustainability strategy, approach & actions, towards their competitive advantage.
b) Develop suitable materials to support Indian corporate entities in the implementation of Companies Bill/Rules, as it is issued by Government, to focus on Environmental Sustainability, Sustainable development and Life Cycle Analysis.
c) Conduct suitable awareness programs to support Indian industry in the implementation of National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business (NVGs)& Business Responsibility Reporting (BRR) ensuring environmental sustainability.
d) Facilitate companies to focus on integrating business models with social and environmental priorities and processes in order to create shared value.
e) Interact & liaise with institutions involved in Sustainability workto develop synergy towards professional expertise & development of work programs.
f) Organise & develop the functioning of National Foundation for CSR (NFCSR)’s Sustainability verticle of IICA focussing on environmental sustainability.
g) Lead the Sustainable Development work along with fostering and strengthening internal & external partnerships.
h) Design CSR projects with “long term sustenance of projects” as the key objective and Sustainable Development features built in suitably to meet effectively, the NFCSR mission on “effective contribution towards sustainable growth and development”.
i) Spearhead the Business Innovation initiative on developing an ecosystem for entrepreneurship by connecting incubators, investors and start-ups in the sustainability space of sustainable projects along with ‘‘Centre for Business Innovation and IT Services’’ mandate.
j) Seek observer status from UNFCCC and IPCC on Sustainable Development related issues and other global think tank institutions.
k) Participate in the National Programmes/Projects in the area of Sustainable Development.
