IICA proposes to launch the IICA Corporate Sustainability Index for the Indian Companies/Corporates.
Though there are large numbers of Sustainability Indices already existing globally e.g. RobecoSAM and S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Johannesburg Stock Exchange SRI Index, Istanbul Stock Exchange Sustainability Index, STOXX Sustainability Index etc., however the current systems in India are missing relevant measures of performance, and has not comprehensively assessed an organisation’s social, economic and environmental performance.
IICA aims to develop an independent India specific Sustainability Index for the Indian companies/corporates keeping in view of the sector specific Sustainability Risks, Challenges & Opportunities in the Indian context/environment.
The Sustainability performance of the companies/corporate in terms of their social, environmental and economic responsibilities can then be mapped to measure their sustainability effectiveness and identify areas of improvement.
The idea of IICA Corporate Sustainability Index is currently at the proposal stage.
